Which convention?
editIf anyone knows or can find out, it would be great to know which of the various Baptist conventions the church belongs to. The most likely candidates IMO are the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., and the Progressive National Baptist Convention, though there are lots of other possibilities. - I'm thinking the same thing, over ten years later. Perhaps they are Independent Baptist? PCHS-NJROTC (Messages)Have a blessed day. 01:54, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
Sixteenth Street Baptist Church
editThis is the way the church names itself, and it is the name in official records, including HABS and the National Register. I've changed the article to reflect that when the name of the church is used. It should NOT be 16th Street Baptist Church, even if that is a wikipedia convention. Don't know how to change the article name. --Parkwells (talk) 14:11, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree (although I see the name has been again changed), but what this article title should really be called is Sixteenth Street Baptist Church (Birmingham, Alabama)There are surely other 16th St Baptist Churches out in the world.--James R (talk) 28 July 2010 (UTC)
World Heritage Tentative List
editI'm sorry to be a bit harsh on the editors, but may somebody please politely explain why there is not a word mentioning that this church is (along with five other sites in Alabama, please correct me if the number is off) is a piece of an item that is "waiting in line", to put it in informal language, to become UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sorry about that. If y'all want some explanation as to what a "World Heritage Site" and "World Heritage Tentative List" are please drop a response here. Thanks Y'all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.203.148.170 (talk) 00:36, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Requested image
editThe existing image of the Petts window is in black and white and doesn't really do it justice. Perhaps a contributor in Birmingham could grab a color snapshot of the window and release it under a free-content license? Sincerely, generic_hipster 13:48, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
