What a tragedy !! What a waste of Genius !! 1492 remains among the greatest films ever made !! A masterpiece that will live on as a cult 200 years from now !! 86.179.204.166 (talk) 20:12, 19 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wrong place for the city edit

"They begin to build the city of San Salvador and eventually manage to hoist the town bell into its tower, symbolising the arrival of Christianity in the New World." - This is incorrect, both historically and in the film. Columbus never founded a city on San Salvador. The city he founded in the film and in history is La Isabela, on Hispaniola. SchnitteUK (talk) 17:39, 29 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Historical accuracy edit

I think there should be a small section concerning the disparity between the movies depiction of Columbus and the latest historical research on his person. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.134.186.251 (talk) 05:39, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. There are big discrepancies between the movie character and the real historical figure, and they should be pointed out, as the film tries to be a historical account.

The article says that the movie is fiction. So, where is the historical account you mentioned? 173.86.35.209 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:05, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Production edit

The entire Production section is kind of garbage. It says that it is sourced to some untraceable packet handed out by the film studio (and therefore is not a neutral source, anyway). Is anyone else concerned about this level of standards? If anything, taking much of this pressbook material verbatim borders on WP:COPYVIO. - AppleBsTime (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@AppleBsTime: Yes, and I removed the section before I noticed your post here. -- John of Reading (talk) 11:38, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
