Revert back to disambiguation page edit

This used to be a disambiguation page but was changed to a very short article stub written in a poor style (no references; lacks scientific rigor). Additionally it still appears as a disambiguation page. I think it might be a good idea to revert it back to the previous disambiguation format. —Cousteau (talk) 08:41, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

For now, I have combined the old and new formats, as a disambiguation page with a brief description of the concept. But in my opinion the latter could be removed. —Cousteau (talk) 10:00, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Confused sentence edit

"Some physicists[who?] have suggested that there exist 11 dimensions, which are compactified like the six dimensions."

The 11 dimensions can't all be compactified - we have 3 extended space dimensions and 1 time dimension! Maybe the sentence should read:

"Some physicists[who?] have suggested that there exists an 11th dimension, which is compactified like the six dimensions."

My source is https://www.quantamagazine.org/a-correction-to-einstein-hints-at-evidence-for-string-theory-20220121/ The relevant quotation is, "...all versions [of string theory] unite in a master framework called M-theory, where string coupling constants correspond to different positions in an extra 11th dimension."

Honestly, I don't know if this final dimension is compact. Can anyone ask a physicist about this?
