.45 Winchester Magnum

edit

.45 Winchester Magnum links directly to this page for some reason; if this cartridge has its own page under another name I am unable to find it. In addition, there is a link in this article to .45 Winchester Magnum, i.e. it links to itself. Hamiltondaniel (talk) 08:37, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Infoboxesetc

edit

This is the current form:

Name Case type Bullet diameter Case length Rim diameter Base diameter Shoulder diameter Neck diameter Cartridge length

I recommend changing it to this:

Name Case type Bullet diameter Neck diameter Shoulder diameter Base diameter Rim diameter Case length Cartridge length

This is, to me, a more rational description, esentially running top to bottom. We might also include primer size and type. I made several additions, relying on Barnes & Amber's Cartridges of the World (DBI, 1976). Trekphiler 18:30 & 18:36, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

What does "Cartridge length" mean? Does it mean maximum overall length? That changes depending on the firearm and the bullet used. Pigoutultra (talk) 20:43, 29 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not so Sharps

edit

I deleted this:

Name Case type Bullet diameter Case length Rim diameter Base diameter Shoulder diameter Neck diameter Cartridge length
.45-120 (Sharps) 11.63 (.458) 82.55 (3.25) 15.44 (.608) 12.85 (.506) N/A 12.19 (.480) 94.74 (3.73)

The .45-120 Sharps, as described in COTW, is:

Name Case type Bullet diameter Case length Rim diameter Base diameter Shoulder diameter Neck diameter Cartridge length
.45-120 (Sharps) rimmed straight .451 3.25 .597 .506 -- .490 4.16

I'm not sure what the .458 is, but it seems to resemble the .45 Sharps Straight, which is a rebadged .45-70 Government.

In addition, I'd ask, where are the .44 Evans Short, .44 Ballard Extra Long, .44-100 Wesson, .45-125 Win, .44-60 Sharps & Rem, .45-50 Peabody, .45-80 Sharpshooter, .404 Rimless Nitro, .500/465 Nitro Express, .444 Marlin, .44-40 Win, & .475 A&M Mag (wildcat), to name just a few from COTW. If you have the information at your disposal and they all belong to the 11 mm class, then please feel free to add them... this is how WIkipedia must grow. --Deon Steyn 05:29, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

.45 Winchester Magnum redirect

edit

Hi,

Can someone remove the redirect of for the .45 Winchester Magnum as the cartridge can have its own page. Thanks! DeusImperator (talk) 00:20, 5 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
