Error regarding pressure
editThe article states that .223 Remington and 5.56x45 are loaded to different pressures. This is incorrect. SAAMI spec for .223 Rem is 380 MPa, using the SAAMI testing protocol. While 5.56x45 is loaded to a specification of 430 MPa. The testing protocol, however, is EPVAT, which yields values similar to CIP testing.
When you account for the protocol differences, the pressures are functionally identical. In other words, .223 Rem and 5.56x45 are loaded to the same pressure.
The warning about not shooting 5.56x45 through a .223 Rem rifle is solely due to the difference in leade. Mismatched ammo and the resultant lack of freebore can cause a pressure spike that is beyond specification for either cartridge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Coverlet (talk • contribs) 02:18, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
