Talk:Łachwa Ghetto

2006 version edit

This is just a cut and paste of the Lakhva article. If someone disagrees with the title of the main article, cutting and pasting in order to create an identical article is not the way to do it. And given that the town only has 2000 inhabitants and is notable mainly as the historic site of a ghetto, having virtually identical article on the town and the ghetto would seem quite unnecessary. Name edit

I wonder if this article shouldn't be at the Łachwa Ghetto or Lachwa Ghetto? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:43, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

PS. I think that in related discussions we have reached a consensus that the article should be at Łachwa Ghetto. I suggest moving the article there and merging article's histories, if there are no objections I'll do so soon. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:51, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Go ahead and perform the move. During WWII Łachwa was a town in German occupied Poland, besides, the name Łachwa Ghetto produces over three times as many results in search than Lakhva Ghetto. Here are the numbers:
  1. "Łachwa Ghetto" (minus) -Wikipedia: 37 for "Łachwa Ghetto"
  2. "Lakhva Ghetto" (minus) -Wikipedia: 11 for "Lakhva Ghetto"

Notability edit

I think Lakhva / Łachwa Ghetto is a notable entity that should be covered in a separate articles. There is plenty of sources about it: [1], [2].--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 16:03, 17 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

German casualties edit

Why is there no mention on German casualties?--RM (Be my friend) 05:05, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

First Ghetto Uprising edit

The ghetto uprising in Nesvizh precedes the Lachwa uprising. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brbrennan (talkcontribs) 19:45, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

It depends, I guess, on the definition of uprising. I have no doubt there were Jews who resisted even before that. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:13, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
True, just wanted to mention info to add to precision of the article. Brbrennan (talk) 19:09, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Name, revisited edit

Recently this article was moved, without discussion (well, new discussion, an older one above was in favor of Łachwa), from Łachwa Ghetto to Lakhva Ghetto, with justification of WP:COMMONNAME. Well, let's see if things have changed over the past few yers: Google Books has about 150 hits for "Lakhva Ghetto" and scholar, one. For Łachwa Ghetto, Books has 190 hits, and Scholar, 16. I think Łachwa is the more common spelling, hence the older name seems better. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:39, 12 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
