Sikandar (transl. Defender / Warrior) is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film[3] written and directed by AR Murugadoss. It is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film stars Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna.

The film was officially announced in March 2024 untitled, and the official title was announced a month later. Principal photography commenced in June 2024 in Mumbai. The film has music composed by Pritam and cinematography handled by Nikos Andritsakis.
Sikandar is scheduled to release worldwide on the 1st of April in 2025, coinciding with the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

editIn February 2024, Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala, who had discussed for a potential collaboration between the two for a long time, were reported to join hands after ten years.[4] AR Murugadoss, who had narrated a script to Nadiadwala, would reportedly direct the project as the latter discussed the script with Khan.[5][6] Production would begin that summer, with Murugadoss shifting between the film and SKxARM.[7] Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, which collaborated with Khan for Jeet (1996), Judwaa (1997), Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Jaan-E-Mann (2006) and Kick (2014), would fund the project in their sixth collaboration with the actor.[8] The company made a public announcement on 12 March 2024, confirming the project,[9] and the film's official title, Sikandar, was announced on 12 April 2024.[10]
Casting
editRashmika Mandanna was cast as the female lead, in her first pairing with Khan as well as in her fourth Hindi film after Goodbye (2022), Mission Majnu and Animal (both 2023).[11] Sathyaraj was reported to have been cast in the main antagonist role.[12]
Filming
editPrincipal photography began with the first schedule on 19 June 2024 at Mehboob Studio in Mumbai. An aerial action sequence featuring Khan was filmed at first.[1][13]
Music
editThe music and background score is composed by Pritam, in his first collaboration with Murugadoss; fifth with Khan after Ready, Bodyguard (both 2011), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Tiger 3 (2023).[14]
