Sigit Riyanto (15 February 1964 – 21 August 2024) was an Indonesian lecturer, writer, and professor of international law who served as dean at Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University from 2016 until 2021.

Early life and education

Riyanto was born on 15 February 1964 in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java.[1] He went to Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University and graduated in 1987, and earned his master's degree from University of Nottingham majoring in public international law in 1994.[1] Riyanto then earned his Ph.D from Gadjah Mada University in 2009.[1]

Career

Riyanto started his career as a civil servant candidate on 1 March 1988 and was appointed as civil servant by Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs on 1 October 1989.[1]

Personal life and death

Riyanto was married to Sri Hadi Asmaraningsih and has had two sons, Abiyoga Rahman and Rayhan Alam Riyanto, and a daughter, Arifa Widyasari.[1]

Riyanto died at UGM Academic Hospital in Kranggahan I, Trihanggo, on 21 August 2024, at the age of 60.[2][3][4] He was buried at UGM Family Cemetery in Sawit Sari, Condong Catur.[2][3][4]
