Scott Nickles (born in 1968) is an American politician and former police officer currently serving as the mayor of Round Lake Beach, Illinois since 2020.[1]

Early life and education

From 1986 to 1990, Nickles attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale receiving a B.S. in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration.[2]

Nickles was a police officer for the City of Chicago from May 31, 1994, to July 24, 2010.[1]

Political career

Nickles was a trustee for Round Lake Beach since 2017 until his appointment to mayor.[2]

In 2020, Nickles was appointed interim mayor by then mayor Richard H. Hill before his resignation.[citation needed]

After completing the remaining term of Hill, Nickels ran for mayor against Democrat Nitai Pandya. On April 6, 2021, Nickles defeated Pandya 953 votes to 667 votes.[3]
