Sangar (Persian: سنگر), also known as Sangī Sar and Shahr-e Sangar,[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Sangar District of Rasht County, Gilan province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 6,388 in 1,834 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 10,154 people in 3,231 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 12,583 people in 4,288 households.[2]
