State System overview
editWith a current enrollment of more than 247,000 students, the State System consists of 25 colleges and universities (made up of two research universities, 11 regional universities, and 12 community colleges),[1] 11 constituent agencies, and a higher education center.[2] The State System is coordinated by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, and each institution is governed by a board of regents. There are currently three constitutional boards of regents that govern a majority of colleges and universities in the state: the OSU/A&M Board of Regents, the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, and the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO). In addition, there are 12 statutory boards of regents that govern specific community colleges in the state.
