Priyanshi Arya (born 2001) is a student leader in New Delhi. In March 2024 elections, she won the Jawaharlal Nehru University student union (JNUSU) election for the post of General Secretary.[1][2] She is the Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association (BAPSA) candidate and was supported by the left coalition after their candidate Swati Singh's nomination was cancelled.[3][4] She defeated Arjun Anand of ABVP by 926 votes.[5] She received 2887 votes to Anand's 1961.[6][7][8][9]
Early life and education edit
Arya hails from Haldwani district in Uttarakhand.[10] She is a Dalit Hindu. After completing her schooling (plus two) at Nirmala Convent Senior Secondary school in 2018, she did her graduation in 2021 in Philosophy from Indraprastha College for women in Delhi. Later, she joined JNU for her master's degree and completed her postgraduation in Philosophy. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate, also in Philosophy, at JNU.[11]
