How about red instead for the border? I tried to change it but it didn't work. --Revolución (talk) 19:40, 21 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

oh now I see it. --Revolución (talk) 19:41, 21 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Red is symbol of blood. Let's keep politics away from Wikipedia! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.231.86.197 (talkcontribs) 06:53, 11 October 2005 (UTC).Reply

Red...? that's the "Revolution" color edit

The red color might be a bit partial. Pro-Chávez supporters use the red color. What do you think about another color? Something more neutral. Blue is pretty neutral, I don't think any current political party uses the blue color in Venezuela. Comments? Enano275

The truth is -and you might think i'm stupid- that I had the idea of using the red wine colour as a sports note. I was thinking also on a neutral colour, but then I saw a football game and I had the idea (Vinotinto). I also read somewhere in a magazine that this vinotinto colour supposedly came from the combination of yellow, blue and red with seven white spots; that's how the myth has it. I thought it was somehow emblematic. I mean, I got your point of view. But look at it this way: it's not entirely red. Anyways, if you have a better idea of what colour should be used in here, in a representative and neutral way, then let me know. Cheers. --Alex Coiro 05:42, 18 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, actually you're right, I didn't think of it that way. The "Vinotinto" is used in many Venezuelan sport teams--Enano275 00:37, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Enano275, the Vinotinto color is just fine. I am as far as possible of being pro-Chavez, Vinotinto is not chavista. --Ozzyprv 05:43, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blue is the color for the Opposition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.92.246.196 (talk) 00:46, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject Venezuela edit

I'm looking forward to found the Wikipedia:WikiProject Venezuela. I had the idea of creating it when I first made the portal. The project will have the main objective of centrating efforts into a more complete information and a higher quality of the articles in Wikipedia, other media in the sister projects, and the portal itself.

However, the rules say that I should have at least five to ten members willing to integrate and contribute to the wikiproject. So if some of you guys want to join in, then leave me a message, or in this page. I will be back in a few days to see how things are going on.

Go to Wikipedia:Wikiproject/List_of_proposed_projects#Venezuela and list yourselves if you wanna join.

Venezuela portal and Firefox edit

I am having problems with the portal when using Firefox (v. 1.0.7). All I see is a ~red (vinotinto) box. Does anybody have the same diffuculties? I wish I knew how to fix this bug.--Ozzyprv 05:49, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Try upgrading to a newer version of Firefox. I'm using 1.5.0.3 and see no problems.
Thanks Enano, I updated Firefox and now it works perfectly.--Ozzyprv 04:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

El Hatillo edit

I changed the selected article to El Hatillo Municipality, which is now a good article. I hope no one minds, the Caracas Metro had been there for 8 months.--enano (Talk) 04:28, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indian Reservation edit

Are there indian reservation in Venezuela? Or something like indian reservation? Indian territory? Where I get information about them?--Kaiyr (talk) 14:32, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notice from the Portals WikiProject edit

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:49, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Re-update edit

Since this is dead, I hope nobody minds if I update it? I might set a rolling timer for a month or so to update, and find the most recent DYKs, etc. Kingsif (talk) 13:40, 18 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

2020 portal updates edit

The portal has been updated, per below. North America1000 23:43, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • @Northamerica1000: While the effort to clean-up all portals to your liking is just about appreciated and accepted, you should have left a message first and pinged/left a message for me directly. At the top of this talk page it clearly says that "This portal is manually maintained by Kingsif. Please contact these user(s) when you plan to make significant changes" and you ignored this, going against the collaborative spirit of Wikipedia and the portals project. Even if there were a consensus to edit this portal in these ways specifically, I feel like I should have been at least told first before you overhauled the system. The issue now is that there isn't a lot of quality content, and I was manually rotating in B-class articles to keep the portal fresh, as well as being able to display article relevant to the month. And I'll still be manually handling the 'In this month' section, since there's no transclusion for that (I've been a bit slack with, you know, COVID-19, but still). I don't feel like you've particularly improved things, and you went behind my (and the Venezuela Wikiproject's) back to do it. At least a courtesy ping, given the massive notice at the top of the page telling you to do that, should have happened. Kingsif (talk) 00:59, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Kingsif: Sorry about that, I totally overlooked the maintainer box atop. I will be checking this first from now on. Well, would you agree that the addition of GA-class articles was an improvement? What about Portal:Venezuela/Selected list, which has been displaying the same static article since December 2019? Would you like for me to restore this and the other sections (Portal:Venezuela/Selected article, Portal:Venezuela/Selected bio), and perhaps use transclusions, so the content is at least up-to-date. Many portals were deleted at MfD for being oudated, for having static pages, for not being updated with new content, and for other such reasons. North America1000 01:07, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • (edit conflict) December 2019 really isn't that long ago, long after the MfD explosion, and obviously COVID-19 has even taken up the time and effort of mass-deleters. Please remember I am around in the portals project, I do know these things. Not that Venezuela is anywhere near a small enough topic/outdated enough portal to think about deletion for a long time. I'm constantly improving the Venezuela articles, though, so maybe in a year or so your way will be more efficient. Kingsif (talk) 01:12, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Kingsif: Okay, I have restored the Selected bio and Selected list sections. I used transclusions, which provides readers with up-to-date information. Hopefully you're okay with the use of transclusions. North America1000 01:26, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Well it does make it ugly as sin since the image and text size can't be changed to make things actually fit, so my layout senses are going crazy. Kingsif (talk) 01:31, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Kingsif: If you want me to revert back to the static pages that only show one article, just let me know. North America1000 01:34, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
If it helps, you can show a different excerpt each month automatically with something like {{Transclude selected excerpt|selected={{#time:M}}|Jan=Divina Pastora (Barquisimeto)|Feb=1992 Venezuelan coup d'état attempts|Mar=...}}. Certes (talk) 07:38, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
