This was the first World Series appearance for the Cardinals, and it resulted the first of ten World Series championships in Cardinals team history. The Babe Ruth-led Yankees were making their fourth World Series appearance in six years, including winning the 1923 World Series. The Yankees would rebound from their 1926 World Series loss to win the title in 1927 and again in 1928.
