Popinoy (commonly stylized as POPinoy) is a 2021 Filipino reality competition show that premiered on TV5 on June 13, 2021[3] and was aired every Sunday at 8PM PST for 22 weekly episodes until its finale on November 7 at 6:30PM PST.[1] A production by APT Entertainment's parent company TAPE Inc. and it's partnership Cignal Entertainment, as well as in collaboration with publisher Cignal, the aim of the competition is to debut a new two idols; Male and female idols and consisting of trainees from the Philippines. Auditions for the competition were held from February to June 2021.[4][5][6]

Promotions and broadcast
editThe show, as well as its auditions, was first announced on February, 2021 through TV5. They revealed that TV5 is teaming up with TNT through the show.[8][9] On May 11, 2021 it was announced that Maine Mendoza[10][11] and Paolo Ballesteros[12][13] will host the new TV5 show POPinoy and as the show's presenter on June 13, followed by the reveal of the mentors[14], auditionee through YouTube and the name of the show's opening theme later that same month. More promotional clips from the show were broadcast that month on TV5.
The show's premiere date of June 13, 2021 was confirmed through a teaser video released on May 11, 2021. Another teaser video showcasing the faces of the contestants and mentors was released on June 6, along with a promotional poster and the premier of Popinoy.
The auditionee or the groups (whose members range in age from 17 to 28) submitted audition videos through POPinoy's website and those which passed are will begin their mentorship with the four “headhunters,” along with other guest mentors. They also announced that the two winners — one girl group and one boy group — will receive a total of ₱7.5 million worth of prizes, including ₱1.25 million in cash, an endorsement deal with TNT, a training contract with Cignal TV and APT Entertainment, and a talent and imaging contract.[15]
Segments
editOn April 2021, TNT was launch its own PoPinoy-related online show called TNT POP Show, hosted by Darren Espanto, featuring the show’s aspirants. It was premired and aired on TNT's YouTube channel.
Apart from the show itself, there will be additional segments it is the Idols of Pinoy Pop: Manila Sound to K-Pop, a one-episode documentary by Lourd de Vera was begin on June 6, 8 pm, on TV5, and on the satellite television channel and on Colours around 9:30 pm and PoPinoy All Access led and hosted by Anikka dela Cruz, it is a streaming show of the exclusive behind the scenes of all TNT, PoPinoy social media platforms, POPDates, a recap show of the day’s highlights, it was aired every weekdays beginning June 14 after the main show at 9:30 p.m and POPinoy hotshots every Saturday at 7:00pm PST.
