Like all Plasmodium species P. gologoense has both vertebrate and insect hosts. The vertebrate hosts for this parasite are reptiles.

Geographical occurrence edit
This species was described in Tanzania.
Clinical features and host pathology edit
The only known hosts are chameleons (Chamaeleo species)
