Career

edit

Park Hae-young started her career as an assistant writer for SBS LA Arirang. Over time, she delved into the realm of sitcoms and contributed to various youth-oriented shows such as March, Golbaengi!, Run, My Mom!, Old Miss Diary, and I Live in Cheongdam-dong. In the early stages of her journey, she faced challenges. She expressed, "It was a struggle to anticipate what others would find amusing and create content that would evoke laughter." However, she didn't derive personal enjoyment from this process. Seeking guidance, she approached the head writer and shared her sentiments, admitting that she didn't find humor in her own work even when it elicited laughter from others. The writer imparted valuable advice, saying, "You can't force yourself to write. Keep exploring and unearthing the aspects that bring you joy. Eventually, you may encounter a director who appreciates your unique perspective, and that's when your path as a writer will truly unfold." This counsel laid the foundation for her to persevere. She remarked, "It was excellent advice. If someone had dictated the exact formula for creating a comedy and told me, 'You must write this way, and it will be fun,' I don't think I would have sustained my passion for long."[1]

In June 2024, Park was appointed as chairman of the copyright committee of the Korea Television and Radio Writers Association.[2]
