Operation Berbir, a tactical level military action of Croatian forces in the Croatian War. It was a Croat attack on Bok Jankovac.[1][2]

Course of the operation
editIn the early morning hours of August 8, 1992, more than 700 members of the Croatian "Berbir Battalion" crossed the river and attacked Serbian positions in Bok Jankovac. With strong resistance, but also heavy losses, members of the Croatian army unit crossed the Sava in Bok Jankovac, a suburb of Bosanska Gradiška , and attacked Serbian positions.[3] A fierce fight broke out. The attack was repulsed by Serbian forces with the loss of 16 dead. Serbs managed to defend Bok Jankovac.[4]
Aftermath
editMemorial was build for the fallen Serbs in Bok Jankovac, which is visited by delegations of the President of Srpska, the National Assembly, civil and military veteran organizations and associations, confirms that it is not just about media hype.[5]
