Namun la Pass is a mountain pass in Nepal, with an elevation of 4,850 meters (15,913 ft) above sea level in the Annapurna Himalayan range.[1] The pass is located in Manang District, Nashong VDC - 5,[2] through the trail that connects Sikles Village to Timang Village. This pass is one of the most challenging passes in the whole Annapurna region, even more challenging than the Kang La Pass, Thorung La Pass, and Larkya La Pass. It is the second-highest point in Namun La Pass Trek.
Historical and cultural significance
edit
The pass was opened to trekkers in 2008 and remains a largely untapped destination, sparingly visited by international tourists. It was a key route for the Gurung community, historically known as the Tamu, who migrated from Tibet. The trek[3] features the sacred glacial lake Dudh Pokhari, revered for its alleged soul-cleansing properties and as a pilgrimage site during the Janai Purnima festival.
