Muradnagar is a city and a municipal board in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It lies about 22 km (14 mi) from Ghaziabad, the district headquarters, and 55 km (34 mi) from Delhi. It was founded by Hazrat Mohammed MuradGhazi (R.A.). The name "Muradnagar" is derived from its founder Hazrat 'MuradGhazi'. Muradnagar was once a stop(padaav) in the medeival times or Mughal times. It has working Municipal Corporation and it's Tehsil is Modinagar. The current MLA of Muradnagar is Mr Ajeet Pal Tyagi(BJP) and chairman is Mrs. Chammi Chaudhary (BSP) wife of Mr Wahab Chaudhary.

Demographics
editAs of the 2006[update] India census,[2] Muradnagar had a population of 100,080. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Muradnagar has an average literacy rate of 70%, greater than the national average of 60.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 55%. In Muradnagar, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
