Montemno Lake

Montemno Lake (Bulgarian: езеро Монтемно, romanized: ezero Montemno, IPA: [ˈɛzɛro monˈtɛmno]) is the 190 m long in southeast–northwest direction and 70 m wide lake on eastern Byers Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It has a surface area of 0.96 ha and drains northwards into Barclay Bay by way of Bedek Stream.

The feature is named after the ancient Roman road station of Montemno in Northern Bulgaria.

Location

Montemno Lake is situated just west of Urvich Wall and centred at 62°38′41″S 60°58′17″W, which is 230 m northeast of the larger Oread Lake, 3 km northeast of Dometa Point and 3.25 km south of Nedelya Point. Detailed Spanish mapping in 1992, and Bulgarian mapping of the area in 2009 and 2017.
