Mireia Lalaguna Royo (born 21 November 1992) is a Spanish actress, model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 2015, becoming the first woman from Spain to win Miss World. She was previously crowned Miss World Spain 2015.

Early life and education

Lalaguna was born in Barcelona on 21 November 1992.[1] She obtained her bachelor's and MSc degree in pharmacy at the University of Barcelona in Spain.[2] Lalaguna is fluent in Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.[3]

Career

Lalaguna ventured into pageantry in 2014. She represented Spain at the Miss Atlántico Internacional 2014 pageant, where she was eventually declared as the winner, crowned by outgoing titleholder Lorena Romaso.[4][5]

Miss World Spain

Lalaguna competed at the third edition of Miss World Spain on 24 October 2015 in Málaga, representing Barcelona.[6] At the end of the event, she was crowned Miss World Spain 2015 by her predecessor Lourdes Rodríguez of Castilla-La Mancha.[7] She also won the Miss Luxury special award at the event.

Miss World 2015

Lalaguna represented Spain at Miss World 2015 pageant on 19 December 2015, held in Sanya, China.[8] After advancing to the final five, she answered the question, "Why do you think you should win Miss World 2015?" with the following response:

I think I should be the next Miss World because I believe in strong women. Also, I always try to give my best. I believe in Beauty with a Purpose and I can continue its legacy. I want to show the world how to love and share, give the best of ourselves and show everyone how to find happiness in helping each other.[9][10]

By the end of the event, Lalaguna was crowned Miss World 2015 by outgoing titleholder Rolene Strauss of South Africa. Lalaguna's win marked the first time Spain won the Miss World competition,[11] since the pageant's inception in 1951.[12][13]

During her reign, Lalaguna traveled to England, India, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, the United States, Russia, China, South Korea, South Africa, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Jersey and Spain..

She has graced the covers of prestigious magazines such as HOLA, Telva, Glamour and Harper's Bazaar,and worked with brands as Louis Vuitton and Patek Philippe solidifying her status in the fashion industry. Mireia has also walked the runway at major events like Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Moda Cálida. Her presence at high-profile events extends to global red carpets, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.

In addition to her work in fashion, Mireia has attended various charity galas worldwide, supporting important causes through her platform. She has collaborated with global brands as an influencer, establishing herself as a prominent figure in the digital space.

Mireia’s work has also expanded to international collaborations, including a notable campaign for PokerStars with Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Paul. She has further made her mark in television, particularly in Mexico, where she has showcased her talents as a TV presenter and media personality. Through her work in fashion, media, and philanthropy, Mireia Lalaguna continues to be a significant figure in the global entertainment industry.
