Miodrag Pivaš (born 17 May 2005) is a Serbian professional footballer who plays for English club Newcastle United, as a central defender and defensive midfielder.[2]

Early life
editBorn in Novi Sad,[3] Pivaš's family moved to Austria when he was 12.[4]
Club career
editAfter playing for UFC Siezenheim, SV Grödig and Jedinstvo Ub, Pivaš signed for English club Newcastle United in July 2024.[5]
Pivaš made his senior debut aged 16, and at the age of 18 returned to Serbia without his family.[4] He won promotion to the Serbian Superliga in his sole season with Jedinstvo Ub.[4]
International career
editPivaš is a Serbia youth international,[6] playing for the under-17 team,[7] including playing for them at the 2022 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.[4]
Playing style
editPivaš plays as both a central defender and a defensive midfielder.[4]
Pivaš was compared by Ivan Radovanović,[4] his manager at Jedinstvo Ub, to Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Vidic.[7] Pivaš has said that he wants to follow in the footsteps of Ivanovic, Vidic, and Aleksandar Mitrovic.[7] His mentality and smartness was also praised by Heimo Pfeifenberger, his manager at SV Grödig.[4]
