Miguel A. Martínez (born 1970) is a Spanish and Swedish sociologist at Uppsala University. Martínez is Chair Professor of housing and urban sociology at the IBF (Institute for Housing and Urban Research) [1]. Martínez's research is rooted at the intersection between Urban sociology and housing studies, on the one hand, and social movements, on the other. He was influenced by participatory action research (PAR) methodologies as they were practised in Spain and Latin America. He mainly conducted studies on the squatting movement, especially on Squatting in Spain and other European countries. Other studies on housing, anti-neoliberal and pro-democracy movements explored their mutual connections and their institutional and non-institutional impacts[2]. In 2020, he published Squatters in the capitalist city. Housing, Justice and Urban Politics.[3]
