Protected edit request on 26 February 2014

edit

Please replace the contents of the page with the following:

Reverted $1 pending edits by $2 to revision $3 by $4

This doesn't change the appearance or functionality of the message, but it allows several more characters to be used in the custom summary. Jackmcbarn (talk) 20:31, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • I concur with this request, but think that:

Reverted $1 pending edits by $2 to revision $3 by $4

[[Help:RV|Reverted]] $1 [[WP:PC|pending]] edit{{PLURAL:$1||s}} by $2 to revision $3 by $4
will be even more efficient. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 21:01, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
The PLURAL magic word is evaluated before the character limit hits, so it doesn't really matter. Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:05, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure. Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:39, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit protected}} template. When requesting a change to a MediaWiki page, it's always a good idea to give a link to a discussion where that change was agreed. I suspect that the discussion concerned is Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 124#Difference between revisions pages comment truncation; but I don't see a clear agreement either there or here. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:36, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Redrose64: This doesn't affect the way it looks or works at all. This saves some characters for "free." There doesn't seem to be any dissent there to this idea. Jackmcbarn (talk) 22:39, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
