The Lamborghini Temerario[1] (code name 634[2]) is an upcoming mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini. It was officially unveiled on August 16, 2024, replacing the Huracán. This car marks the return of a V8 mid-engined Lamborghini model, the first since the 1981 Lamborghini Jalpa.[3][4] It is the first turbocharged Lamborghini sports car.[5]

Name

edit

In keeping with the Lamborghini tradition of naming car models after famous fighting bulls, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated that "Temerario is the name of a fighting bull that fought in 1875, and Temerario means fierce, courageous."[6]

Engine, motors, and battery

edit

The flat-plane hot vee 4.0L (3995.2cc) V8 engine produces 730 Nm (538.42 ft-lbs) (4,000 - 7,000 rpm) and 800 PS (789hp, 588kW) (9,000 - 9,750 rpm), with a 10,000 rpm redline. The electric motor between the engine and the gearbox has 300 Nm (221.26 ft-lbs) and 110 kW (148hp, 150 PS) at 3,500 rpm.[2] There are two other electric motors on the front axle. [7]The motors make use of axial-flux electric motors that provide a larger magnetic surface for better performance. Combined power output is 907 hp (920 PS, 677 KW).[8][6] It is important to note that this engine is mechanically unrelated to the 4.0L (3996cc) hot vee Volkswagen-Audi V8 engine (4.0 TFSI). The Temerario will use the existing 3.8 kWh battery pack from the Lamborghini Revuelto.

Transmission

edit

The Temerario will use an adapted version of the Revuelto’s 8-speed dual-clutch transmission .[2] The gearbox is transverse and mounted behind the engine.

Performance

edit

Lamborghini has stated that the maximum speed of the Temerario is over 340 km/h (210 mph) and reaches 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.7 seconds.[1]
