Jennifer D. Gavito is an American diplomat who is the nominee to be the next US Ambassador to Libya.[1]

Gavito obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from American University, in Washington, D.C.[1]
Career edit
Gavito is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, with the rank of Minister-Counselor. She is considered a specialist in the Middle East. She has held several diplomatic posts worldwide, including in the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. Domestically, Gavito has served in several roles domestically as well, including in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and serving as the Foreign Affairs Policy Advisor to the U.S. Africa Command's Director for Plans and Policies (J5).[1] She was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq, Iran, Press and Public Diplomacy from August 2021 to May 2023.[2]
US Ambassador Nomination edit
On January 8, 2024, President Joe Biden nominated Gavito to be the next ambassador to Libya.[1][3][4] Her nomination is pending before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.[5]
