James Van Patten (born October 7, 1956) is aka Jimmy Van Patten is an American actor and film producer.[1][2]

Early Life and Career

Jimmy Van Patten is the son of actor Dick Van Patten and actress Pat Van Patten. He has two brothers, Vincent Van Patten and Nels Van Patten, both actors. Jimmy is also the nephew of actress Joyce Van Patten and the cousin of actress Talia Balsam. He was born in New York and began acting at age 12. When a teenager, his family moved to Hollywood, where he was promptly cast in the TV show The Odd Couple, kickstarting his acting career. As a child, Van Patten guest-starred in various TV shows and films.[3][4]

As an adult, he led two TV series - The Chisholms, where he portrayed Bo Chisholm, and the comedy Poison for Showtime. Van Patten's filmography includes over 35 movies, such as The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, Freaky Friday, and the Saw horror franchise, earning critical acclaim for Young Warriors.[1]

Van Patten wrote and created the comedy Poison Tennis. As a producer, he collaborated with his brother on films: The Break and The Flunky, which won awards.

Personal Life

James Van Patten has been in relationships with Nicollette Sheridan, Catherine Oxenberg (1985 - 1988) and Judy Landers (1981). He is rumored to have sexual encounter with Emily Lloyd (1992). He was married to actress Shana Hiatt in 1999, but divorced in 2005.[5]
