Jamal Haynes (born October 5, 2002)[1] is an American football running back for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Early life and high school
editHaynes attended Grayson High School located in Loganville, Georgia. Coming out of high school, Haynes was rated as a three star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.[3][4]
College career
editIn Haynes first two seasons in 2021 and 2022, he appeared in 11 games primarily as a wide receiver, where he recorded no statistics.[5][6][7] Going into the 2023 season, Haynes made the transition from wide receiver to running back.[8] During the 2023 Gasparilla Bowl, Haynes rushed for a career-high 128 yards, as he helped the Yellow Jackets to a win over UCF.[9] Haynes finished the 2023 season rushing for 1,059 yards and seven touchdowns, while also hauling in 20 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown, while also returning two kickoffs for 47 yards, en route to being named third team all-ACC.[10][11] Heading into the 2024 season, Haynes was named to multiple preseason award watch lists such as the Paul Hornung watch list, the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list, and to the Maxwell Award watch list.[12][13]
