Jahangir Mashadi Rza Oghlu Zeynalov (Azerbaijani: Cahangir Məşədi Rza oğlu Zeynalov) was the founder of the realistic acting school in Azerbaijan, a theatrical figure.

He was born on September 21, 1865, in Baku into a merchant's family. Jahangir received his primary education, and was fluent in Persian and Russian languages. He first appeared on the stage in 1885. In the 1900s, Zeynalov played a role in organizing a troupe of Muslim playwrights. In 1906, he headed the Society of Muslim Dramatic Artists established in Baku. Jahangir mainly performed in the theater troupes of the cultural and educational societies "Nijat" (1906) and "Safa" (1912).[1]

Jahangir Zeynalov always helped the actors and helped them with money. He reserved a large gym at his house for training. He spent the money and made a scene in the main part of the hall. Actors such as Hajiaga Abbasov, Mirzaga Aliyev, Muhammad bey Alvandi, Huseyn Arablinsky and many others have repeatedly rehearsed and prepared performances in this hall.[2]

In 1913, Jahangir Zeynalov, who also worked effectively as a director, directed "Haji Kara" by Mirza Fatali Akhundzade, "Haji Gambar" by Najaf bey Vazov, "Watan" by Namik Kamal and "Evliken Subai" by Zulfugar Hajibeyov, 1914. "Friends of the Nation" by Abdurrahim Bey Hagverdiyev, "The Forced Doctor" by Molière, "Ahda Wafa" by Namik Kamal in 1915, "Farhad and Shirin" (opera) by Jalal Yusifzade in other troupes, "Demirci Gava" by Shamseddin Sami, "Demirci Gava" by Nariman Narimanov. the works of "Nadir Shah".[1]

On March 17, 1918, when Armenian Dashnakars staged a brutal arson and massacre in Baku, Jahangir Zeynalova, his wife, Husnia, and their young daughter, Nasiba Zeynalova, went to Anzali, Iran to their father-in-law, Mashadi Abduldayanov Huseinov, who was living there temporarily. When it calmed down, he and his family boarded a ship to return to Baku. A storm broke out on the sea, and typhus developed due to uncleanliness on the ship. Jahangir contracted the disease and died without his close friends or relatives knowing.[2]
