Isabelle Boemeke is a Brazilian fashion model and social media personality. She is known for her TikTok videos, in which she promotes the benefits of nuclear energy and its role in solving climate change.

Boemeke has worked as a fashion model since the age of 17, with no formal scientific background.[1] After moving to the United States for her modeling career, she read Richard Dawkins’ The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution, which sparked her interest in science.[1]
In 2016, Boemeke first learned about the benefits of nuclear energy from Carolyn Porco’s tweet about molten salt thorium reactors.[1][2][3][4]
The 2019 Australian bushfire and Amazon rainforest wildfires motivated Boemeke to use her platform to address climate change.[1][2][5] She believed that despite its controversial reputation in the media, nuclear power is necessary to solve climate change.[4][6]
Boemeke began incorporating climate and energy information into her modeling shoots in 2020.[3]
In February 2020, she created her social media account, Isodope, and began writing, producing, and editing videos that promoted facts about nuclear energy.[4][7] Inspired by Lil Miquela, she took visual cues from vaporwave and mashed these aesthetics with contemporary social media tropes.[7]
In December 2021, she organized protests against the closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant in San Luis Obispo County, California, arguing that the state would struggle to reduce carbon emissions without it. The plant closure is delayed until 2030.[3][8]
In 2022, she was called a “Next Generation Leader” by Time magazine.[3] Boemeke was also featured in and served as an executive producer of Oliver Stone’s 2022 film Nuclear Now.[9]
She is a TED Talk speaker and is active across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube under the username Isodope.[1][3][4][5]
