History

edit

Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company was established in 2006 through a collaboration between IMIDRO, Ghadir Investment Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, and Iran Alloy Steel Company. The company is located 25 kilometers from Ardakan, adjacent to Chadormalu's pelletizing unit and Arfa Iron and Steel Company, on an 86-hectare site. The company aims to produce 800,000 tons of sponge iron annually to meet the needs of smelting and casting units in Yazd province and other steel producers in Iran.[7]

Products

edit

Ghadir Iranian Iron and Steel Company has two main and three side products. Sponge iron is the company's primary product. The company uses the "MIDREX Process" technology to convert iron ore pellets into sponge iron. After producing sponge iron, its fines are converted into Cold-Briquetted Iron, the company's second main product. In addition to these two products, sponge iron fines, pellet fines, and sponge iron sludge constitute the company's three side products.[8][9][10][11]

Shareholders

edit

The major shareholders of Iranian Ghadir Iron and Steel Company include Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company, Iranian Alloy Steel Company, GIMIDCO, and Shahroud Steel Company.[12] Additionally, a portion of the company's shares are publicly traded on the first market of Tehran Stock Exchange's Fara Bourse under the ticker symbol 'GIRZ1', allowing individual investors to participate in ownership.[13][14][15][16]

Investment in the Mining Sector

edit

In addition to producing iron and steel-related products, this company has invested in Iran's mining sector. The Darouneh Placeri Iron Ore Mine in Razavi Khorasan province, the Sourgah Manganese Mine in Kerman province, and the Torbat-e Heydarieh Copper Exploratory Area in Razavi Khorasan province are three mines in which the company is involved. Furthermore, the company conducts mineral exploration to identify iron ore, manganese, chromite, copper, and industrial soils in other Iranian provinces.[17]
