Hi as this page was already created earlier this year, I decided to make some changes from my sandbox (I drafted them there as I didn't know this page was already done) as I believe it will help in transcriptions further as the earlier table version seemed incomplete. If there is any mistake with my change, feel free to correct it, many thanks. Broman178 (talk) 20:18, 16 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation of च and ज

edit

According to this IPA pronunciation key for Marathi, च and ज are pronounced as t͡ɕ and d͡ʑ respectively. However I have a doubt regarding this:

As a native Marathi speaker, च and ज sound more like tʃ and dʒ to me. Most native speakers that I know tend to pronounce them as tʃ and dʒ. As a result, I believe that their pronunciation given in this key are a little misleading.

Therefore I would like to know what others think of this. Whether you believe the same or different, feel free to reply to this message. After all, solutions are found through discussions. SomePacifisticGuy (talk) 19:31, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

No IAST representation for ऑ

edit

According to page Devanagari, section 3 (Letter), subsection 3.1 (Vowels), the vowel ऑ has no IAST representation (see also footnote 7 on that section), hence I believe the IAST representation "a" given here is wrong. 2001:A61:3B98:AD01:A0D7:C9DF:622B:3AD9 (talk) 09:45, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Kwamikagami: With this revert, you restored "today" as an approximation for the Indic alphabet द but it is wrong, while the other approximation that was there is correct, so please self revert your edit or provide a reliable source for the same.-1Firang (talk) 10:34, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
