History

edit

Guzema was officially launched in 2016.[6][7][8] In 2017, the first Guzema flagship boutique was opened in Kyiv.[9][10]

Following this year, the brand introduced its Charity Chain, proceeds from sales of which were transferred to the ’Tvoya Opora’ foundation to help the needs of children suffering from heart conditions.[11]

In November 2017, the Guzema team was honored with the Best Startup award at Elle Style Awards.[12] In the summer of 2018, the brand was presented at Los Angeles Fashion Week.[13]

In the same year, the Love It Rhythm jewelry capsule collection, created in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Monatik, won the Elle Style Awards in the ‘Fashion Collaboration’ category. Guzema also collaborated with Kateryna Kukhar – prima ballerina of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of Ukraine on the Prima collection.[14]

In 2021, Valeriya Guzema established Guzema Foundation – a charitable organization that assists children receiving treatment at the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital.[15][16][17]

With the start of the full scale Russian invasion in 2022, the brand suspended its operations and directed all its resources to volunteer activities.[18][19][20]

In June 2022, the brand designed two collections dedicated to liberty and Ukrainian heritage – Freedom and Spadok.[21][22][23] All proceeds from the sales of Freedom collection items are continuously being donated to Guzema Foundation.[24][25][26][27]

During the Eurovision song contest held in May 2023 the brand was worn by host Hannah Waddingham.[28]
