editThe album was recorded in April 1958.[1] The three musicians were pianist André Previn, bassist Red Mitchell, and drummer Shelly Manne.[1] The material consists of eight songs from the musical Gigi.[2]

The Penguin Guide to Jazz described the album in 1992 as having a "dated charm".[1] The AllMusic reviewer Scott Yanow wrote: "Best known among the songs are 'I Remember It Well' and 'Thank Heaven for Little Girls', but the trio also uplifts and swings the other lesser-known tunes."[2]
