Frank Edward Johnson (July 6, 1873 - September 19, 1934) was a British explorer, artist, lecturer and photographer.[1]

Early life

Frank Johnson was born in Norwich, New London County to Edward Whiting Johnson (1848–1878) and Alice Thomas (1848–1928). Johnson studied in Paris at the famous Academie Julian and exhibited at the Paris Salon in the 1890s.  He also exhibited with the Washington ( DC ) Water Color Club in 1917 and 1918. Johnson wrote for many years for National Geographic magazine about his world travels. He specialized in North African subjects.

Marriage

Johnson married Jessie Harlan Lincoln in September 1915, granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln. They were divorced in 1925.

Death

Johnson died in Cuba in 1934 at age 61 while on an expedition, on September 19, 1934.
