History

edit

Hollywood's First National Bank Building, built in 1927 and opened 1928, was designed by Meyer & Holler, the same architectural firm that designed the nearby Chinese and Egyptian theaters.[1][2] Combining art deco and neo-gothic styles, the building was designed to suggest the sense of fantasy in the area, and upon completion, it was the tallest office building in Los Angeles.[3]

In 1984, the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District was added to the National Register of Historic Places, with the First National Bank Building listed as a contributor to the district.[4][5]

The building has been vacant since 2008.[2]

Filming Location

edit

Hollywood's First National Bank Building has served as a filming location for several movies and television shows, most notably Twins.[6]
