Richard N. Gladstein is a two-time Academy Award nominated film producer. His production company is FilmColony. He served as the Dean of the American Film Institute Conservatory and currently serves as Executive Director of Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema a part of Brooklyn College and the City University of New York.

Biography
editRichard N. Gladstein, a filmmaker and educator, is the Executive Director at Brooklyn College's Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, and president and founder of the motion picture production company FilmColony. He is two-time Academy Award nominated film producer, and former Dean at the American Film Institute Conservatory AFI.
Cumulatively, Gladstein's produced films have received 27 Academy Award nominations and earned in excess of US$1billion worldwide.
Gladstein is a frequent collaborator of Quentin Tarantino - as Producer of the 70mm western The Hateful Eight, and Executive Producer of Tarantino's first three films: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.
Gladstein's two Academy Award nominations for ‘Best Picture of the Year’ were for producing The Cider House Rules and Finding Neverland. His other produced films include; The Bourne Identity, The Time Being (and also co-wrote the screenplay), Paper Man, Killshot, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, She's All That, The Nanny Diaries, Hurlyburly, The Crossing Guard and 54, among others.
Prior to the formation of FilmColony, Gladstein was Executive Vice President & Head of Production at Miramax Films, and Vice President of Production & Acquisitions at LIVE Entertainment. He also served as the Marion Knott Filmmaker-in-Residence at the Chapman University's Dodge College of Film & Media Arts.
Gladstein frequently speaks about filmmaking, producing and the entertainment industry, at such venues as the Producer's Guild of America "Produced By" conference, The Beijing Film Academy, The Tel Aviv Cinematheque, and twice testified before the US Congress regarding film piracy and copyright protection. He has served as a juror and panel moderator for many festivals and awards organizations including the Gotham Awards, among many others.
Personal life
editGladstein received his bachelor's degree in film from Boston University's College of Communication. Her is currently a candidate to receive a Master's degree in Urban education from the Graduate Center City University of New York.
He founded The Bloom's Syndrome Foundation which is dedicated toward medical research on Bloom's Syndrome, an Ashkenazi Jewish genetic disease with which his son was diagnosed in 2004.[1]
Gladstein is a long-time advisor and consultant to the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium (JGDC), the Bloom's Syndrome Association, and he is founder and president of the Bloom's Syndrome Foundation.

editIn a 1994 interview with Charlie Rose, Quentin Tarantino states that he owes his career to Gladstein.
[Gladstein] was the guy at the company (...) that, like, said: "I'm gonna take a chance on this kid", you know. I really owe my career to him.
