Long and short edit

The recording has recently been changed to a short version /ɑ/ which is misleading for some usage (e.g. in Northern England English). Shouldn't we have long and short versions (i.e. /ɑː/ and /ɑ/). Dbfirs 21:34, 15 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Dbfirs: this sound is a recording of the cardinal vowel [ɑ], which may coincidentally^[1] sound close to, or nearly the same as some of the vowels transcribed ⟨ɑ⟩ in world's languages (General White South African English is a great example). Therefore, its length is not relevant. That said, I've just brought back the previous version of the recording, which sounds quite close to cardinal [ɑ].
