English: Permineralization show by scanning electron microscopy images of a vertebra from Valgipes bucklandi which is an extinct ground sloth, that were collected in different places of the ‘Gruta da Lapinha’ cave in the Nova Redenção municipality of Bahia state, Brazil (a)—Vascular structure, in which it is possible to observe the intense precipitation of calcite crystals. (b)—Well-developed calcite crystals on the surface of the bone structure.
