Description

"Elephant toothpaste" chemistry demonstration. Hydrogen peroxide solution (with a small amount of soap) is rapidly decomposed by an iodide catalyst, releasing oxygen as a soapy foam. Note the steam, indicating an exothermic reaction. The burning splint indicates the presence of oxygen.
