  • Significance: Cannonball Pueblo was constructed and occupied during the late 12th century by people associated with the ancestral Peubloan Mesa Verde culture which flourished 800 years ago. The Pueblo includes over 100 masonry structures located high on the edge of a mesa bench and is distinctive Pueblo III Mesa Verdean style architecture associated with the late prehistoric ancestral Puebloan culture. Many of the walls are built with large, closely-fitted blocks of rough-cut sandstone, which in many cases have been carefully shaped by pecking the exposed surface...
