Erivan male gymnasium (Russian: Эриванская гимназия) was opened on January 14, 1832, as an Erivan uezd school, in 1869 it became a progymnasium, and on March 31, 1881, it became a gymnasium.

The Erivan male gymnasium, opened in 1881, had 216 students and the director of the gymnasium was Vladimir Iosifovich Brazhnikov. Firidun Bey Kocherli, an outstanding educator, was a night teacher in this gymnasium in 1885-1895 and then worked as a teacher of calligraphy in the preparatory class.[1]

The duration of education in the gymnasium was 4 years. In 1883, 37 Azerbaijanis studied in the gymnasium. The first graduation of the gymnasium was in 1885. Ismayil Bey Shafibeyov was the head of the Muslim department of the Erivan Gymnasium.[1]

Mustafa Topchubashov, Akbar agha Sheykhulislamov, Teymur bey Makinsky, Aziz Aliyev, Irza-bey Hajibeylinsky, Habib Bey Salimov were well-known graduates of the gymnasium.[2]
