Producing
editThis song was the theme song produced by ZARD for the popular TV series "Lost Paradise (film)" at the time. In order to cater to the theme of adultery in the TV series, the lyrics were created based on the theme of complex love between adults.
Izumi Sakai said: "The theme of the film is secret. I want to convey a heavier and deeper meaning to everyone through the music than the title of the song."
The song PV was shot in the Elmira Desert in California, USA. The single cover also uses the inscription by Junichi Watanabe, the original author of "Lost Paradise".
Commercial Performance
editThe single reached rank number 1 first week, selling 197,000 copies. It charted for 13 weeks and sold 628,000 copies.[2] When Izumi Sakai died in 2007, it was selected as her fifth best song on the Oricon polls.[3]
"Eien" is the last single of ZARD selling over 500,000 copies.
