Draft talk:The Irish People (party)

Notability edit

How is notability established here? If this article was about any other type of org (a company, a non-profit, a music group, a sports teams or other type of club), it wouldn't have a snowball's chance of surviving a WP:SIGCOV/WP:SIRS assessment. We do not have sufficient sources to establish when this org was formed (we appear to be supposing that it was sometime in 2023, but the only news source says its background/formation is "less clear"). In terms of membership, all we can say it is has at least 3 (confirmed?) members. (With the only news source giving that, as of late 2023, it had fewer than a few dozen Facebook, Instagram and Twitter followers.) To support the other content (which skirts, to be honest, a type of WP:NOTWEBHOST/WP:NOTMIRROR republication of the org's website), we are reliant entirely on that website itself. And the one news article which mentions it. Why is it that we create articles on these political parties/groups in a way that we wouldn't for any other type of org? Why isn't this WP:TOOSOON? I agree and would support deletion if it were proposed (I was going to do so after a week of the notability tag, to give the page creator an opportunity to include something, if there is anything). While it must have had more than 3 members to have been registered, there certainly isn't significant coverage. For these purposes, mention on the Electoral Commission website shouldn't count, as they publish details of all new parties or notable changes in registration there. Neither does an article that is little more than "What's new on the register of political parties?". Similarly, I'd expect that in the run-up to the June election, a few publications will give short summaries of what parties are standing, or of individual candidates in different LEAs, where The Irish People will be namechecked. Neither of these seem sufficient to me to give it notability. My view on these is that unless they elect someone or there's significant coverage outside the mere fact of them running, then they don't warrant a page (on the same principles as WP:POLITICIAN. For now, a listing at the end of the page at List of political parties in the Republic of Ireland is sufficient. Iveagh Gardens (talk) 10:56, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Concur with all of the above. ser! (chat to me - see my edits) 11:50, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK. Based on the above, and absent other thoughts, I'm inclined to move this to Draft. As an WP:ATD. And pending additional sourcing or other evidence that WP:SIGCOV and WP:NORG are met. (Otherwise, if we can't even establish or support the basic facts - formation of org, size of org, etc - it seems pretty clear that NORG and TOOSOON apply here. Filling out the forms (with the required signatures and postal order to the electoral commission) doesn't trump or supersede NORG. No org, or type of org, has inherent notability.) Support draftification. Iveagh Gardens (talk) 08:24, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK. I've moved to Draft. Pending something actually happening involving the subject. And sufficient sources and coverage of whatever that might be. To the extent there are sufficient sources to establish the basic facts. And notability. Guliolopez (talk) 11:40, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
