Zain Omantel International (ZOI) is a joint venture between Zain Group and Omantel, focusing on providing international wholesale telecommunications services. Zain Group, a telecommunication company that operates in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa. Omantel is the primary telecommunications provider in Oman.

History

ZOI was established on May 2023 through a partnership between Zain Group and Omantel. As of 2024, the two major stakeholders are Zain Group with 74% and Omantel with 26%[1] ownership of the joint venture.

Operations

ZOI provides various telecommunications services including internet connectivity, voice services, roaming, and messaging. The joint venture reaches to over 55 million customers as of 2024, in eight different countries.[2] ZOI is integrated into more than 20 international submarine cable systems[3] and is involved in several major projects such as Blue-Raman, Africa-1, and the Jeddah to Marseille (J2M) subsea systems.
