Xenia also known as LinuxFox is an anthropomorphic fox that was created in 1996 by Alan Mackey as a potential mascot for the Linux kernel.[1][2] The character lost to Tux the penguin and was later reused as the logo for the fOX project.[3][4] Originally created as a male character, Xenia was mistaken for a female after her rediscovery and Mackey agreed with the concept of her being transgender.
Xenia is considered an icon by female and LGBT GNU/Linux users.
