The White Spot Pipe Band is a youth pipe band that is sponsored by White Spot Restaurants and is based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

History edit

The band was founded in 1956 as the Optimist Junior Pipe Band by Don Bellamy and Malcolm Nicholson.[1][2] In 1963, the band changed its named to the White Spot Pipe Band after White Spot Restaurants began a sponsorship agreement with the band.[1]

The band competes in Grade 4 within the British Columbia Pipers' Association. Along with competitions, the band, accompanied by their dance troupe, has also appeared in many events, such as the Calgary Stampede, Expo 86, and various different parades and Remembrance Day ceremonies.[3]

Leadership edit

The band is managed by Kyla MacNeil, who is also the head snare drum instructor. Former Triumph Street pipe major Hal Senyk is the head piping instructor.[4]
