Draft:Vancouver Independent School for Science and Technology

  • Comment: The Globe and Mail piece says "Advertising feature produced by Globe Content Studio. The Globe’s editorial department was not involved.", which I took to mean it's sponsored. DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:42, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment: DoubleGrazing, I would argue that the Globe and Mail piece is also a good secondary source, but I agree that the article needs more reliable secondary sources. Bkissin (talk) 18:07, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment: Primary sources do not establish notability per WP:ORG. The one secondary one, the BIV piece, is alone not enough. DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:12, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

Vancouver Independent School for Science and Technology (VISST) is a charity and not-for-profit independent school with a STEM focus. It is located in the Fairview neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia.[1]

History

edit

VISST was established as Vancouver's "only dedicated STEM high school" in 2022 by co-founders Mike Gelbart and Shaun Olafson.[2][3][4]

Mission

edit

In addition to its STEM focus, VISST lists access and diversity as values of the school.[5] It applies a sliding scale tuition model and endeavours to keep a balanced gender ratio at the school.[6][7]

Curriculum

edit

VISST is an accredited high school under the Ministry of Education and Childcare, and delivers the full B.C. Curriculum, but accelerates and enriches STEM subjects, with emphasis on rigour, character, and project-based learning.[8]
