editFollowing the announcement that the sixth series would be the last, Knight clarified that, following the year-long production hiatus in 2020, it had been decided to produce a feature-length movie in place of a seventh television series, with other connected television series potentially following.[1]
In June 2024, the film had been officially greenlit by Netflix, with Tom Harper directing and Steven Knight writing the screenplay, and Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Thomas "Tommy" Shelby.[2] Later that month, Rebecca Ferguson was in talks to join the film.[3]
Filming
editPrincipal photography is scheduled to begin in late 2024.[2]
